"I Love Reading" One Million Words Reading Contest (31 Winners): Reading Deadline Extended to May 31, 2011.
Be one of 31 winners of the Dolls Like Me One Million Words Reading Contest. Fabulous prizes include a SONY Pocket eReader, Doll Like Me Shopping Sprees, US Savings Bonds, Reading Lights, and Tote Bags and more.
This contest was inspired by our young office assistant, Rahshemah, who devours children's novels like most kids eat french fries. She is currently reading about a million words every couple of months -- and absolutely loves science-fiction/fantasy/adventure novels.
CONTEST RULES
Every child is welcome to participate; however the contest was designed for children in grades 5-8.
Between September 1, 2010 and May 31, 2011 you must read 1 million words (up to 10 books), books already read during this time period may be included.
Your teacher must write a letter stating that you are capable of reaching this goal (email will be fine).
You must submit a review of each book (not a book report, but a review designed to help others determine whether to purchase this book) read on or before May 31, 2011. All entries must be received NO LATER THAN June 15, 2011. The mailing address is: 1 Million Words Judging Committee, 6B Caldwell Ave, Summit, NJ 07901. Reviews must be between 100 and 300 words each. Each entry must be accompanied by a Parental Release Form (found here).
The review(s) will be judged by our Judging Committee (comprised of educators and staff).
Winners will be announced on our websites and via email on June 30, 2011.
A selection of entrant book reviews will be published on our website along with the Grand Prize winner's bio and photo.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: A release form MUST BE SUBMITTED with every entry. Entries not accompanied by a signed release form will not be accepted and entrant will be disqualified.
