Christmas and Kwanzaa are combined in this story of a black Santa Kwaz returning to the North Pole from his Christmas gift-giving. He doffs his hat, revealing white dreadlocks, puts on his kente, and relaxes with his young African-clad wife and grinning elves while preparing to celebrate the seven-day holiday of Kwanzaa. The story is told in rhymed verse and concludes with Santa and his reindeer skywriting in the middle of the night with his sleigh: Happy Kwanzaa! Peaceful men/ Goodwill Toward Earth. The final page details Kwanzaa traditions, and vigorous artwork accompanies the text.
